Director Of Search Marketing
I have been working as a digital marketer since March of 2012. Honestly, before that, I would have never thought that I would have made a career as a marketer. I used to think of marketers as people in business suits, stuck in a sea of cubicles and fluorescent lighting. When I graduated from the College of Eastern Idaho (formerly Eastern Idaho Technical College) with an Associates Degree in Automotive Technology and an Associates Degree in Diesel Technology in 2008, I knew that I was going to work at a high end dealership as an automotive technician. Then, the housing market crashed and I was stranded in Chandler, AZ working at a local AutoZone. Nobody was hiring, especially somebody without on-the-job experience.
Frustrated and working retail, I decided to go back to school. I had a year left of GI Bill benefits left (thanks to my 4 year enlistment in the United States Marine Corps from 1999 to 2003) and I decided to go to school again, this time at The Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences (CRAS) in Tempe, AZ. Now that was fun! I learned how to use multi-million dollar audio recording and mixing/mastering gear and equipment. I learned how to use digital audio workstations. I recorded music and I spend long nights mixing it. I also learned how to build simple websites.
In 2010, I graduated from CRAS and moved to Nashville, TN to complete a 6 month internship at Blackbird Studio. During that time, I created and managed a couple of simple websites for an acquaintance of mine. Little did I know that this experience would eventually lead me towards my current career path.
In 2011, my wife, Christy, and I had our first child. Her name is Tallia and she is a little angel! Just before Tallia was born, I broke my ankle due to a pull-up accident (don’t ask… it’s a pathetic story) and had to move back home to Idaho. It was when I was out of work that I received my opportunity to work in digital marketing. In March of 2012, I was hired at a local digital marketing agency after I presented the two websites I was managing to my new boss. From then on, life began to dramatically change dramatically for me.
I began working in Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and began specializing in Local SEO. Before long, I found myself managing an entire team of digital marketers at the agency I was working at. I learned how to use multiple digital marketing tools such as:

Between 2012 and 2015, I managed and strategized over 100 digital marketing campaigns for numerous small and medium sized businesses all over the world. These businesses include:

It was while working at this local digital marketing agency I met Nathan Hawkes. He was the lead salesman and was one of the coolest people I had the opportunity to work with. His thirst for knowledge is unwavering and he and I became good friends during our time there. Nate helped me get better at my job, and I kept the clients he brought in happy. Little did I know that our professional and personal relationship would develop into something much larger later on.
In 2013, Christy and I became NRA certified firearms instructors and started a small side business teaching and certifying students to carry concealed firearms. Marksmanship is a passion of mine and I really enjoy teaching people how to shoot better, faster, and safer. My wife and I started a small side business as firearms instructors and I was able to apply my internet marketing skills to our side business. We actually made money doing this!
Christy and I had our 2nd child, a baby boy whom we named Carter. Life was certainly getting interesting. I had a career. My family was growing and I was becoming more knowledgeable and responsible.
Eventually, I decided to move on and out on my own. During my time at the marketing agency, I began to cultivate my own book of clients. I was getting really good at digital marketing and I made the plunge into the world of self-employment. I left the agency and went rogue in 2014.
Shortly after I began working on my own, Nate contacted me and told me that he too had left the old agency and started his own digital marketing agency, Arcane Marketing. He asked me how my own business was doing. I told him that it was okay and that I was keeping busy. Nate then asked me if I would be interested in working with him in his new venture. I didn’t hesitate to say yes.
Nate and I quickly made grew Arcane Marketing’s client base. As business grew, I eventually found myself becoming Director of Search Marketing, my current position.
I have been working for Arcane Marketing since June of 2015. I am responsible for managing Search Engine Optimization fulfillment. I manage a team of 5 account managers including:
Along with my highly skilled account managers, I also manage a crew of skilled content writers and social media marketers. Combined, our team is among the most skilled and experienced digital marketers in the country.
I am Google Ads certified and Google Analytics certified. I am also highly involved with Google’s Local Guide program.
I currently reside in Idaho Falls, ID with my wife, Christy, and our 2 children, Tallia and Carter. We have a dog (a black boxer/lab mix) named Moose and 2 cats named Olive and Monica. Christy and I are avid oil painters, having learned from the best, Bob Ross.
