How can I get more traffic to my website?

When it comes to bringing more traffic to your website, there’s two main questions to ponder. What is it specifically that you want to accomplish? What is the end goal? You don’t want to just jump right into it without a plan in place or knowing where you are going. Let’s compare it to going to the gym. You can go and do 1 hour one day, 10 minutes another. Work on cardio for a second, and not focus on any specific exercises. After a couple of months of not seeing results, no weight lost, not bulking up your muscles etc, you might get frustrated. The way to solve that is to have a plan in place. Do the tasks that are going to bring you the end results that you are looking for.

There are two main types of audiences out there. First you have the researchers or scrollers. They are the ones who are just looking into information. They are at the beginning of the customer experience, or the top of the funnel. They are there because they have a question, something caught their attention or they are curious. You won’t just see these people on Google, you will also find them on Facebook and Instagram asking questions as well as Youtube searching for answers.

The second group of people is the buyer. They are the ones who already know what they want. They have done their research and are ready to complete the sale. If you have done a good job of educating and getting information out there, you just might be the one to win that sale.

Also if you are a local business then you will want to utilize local citations for those around you searching for businesses like yours in the area. Along with local citations you also want to focus on your NAP. NAP stands for Name, Address and Phone Number. You need to make sure that everywhere your NAP appears it is spelled exactly the same. Yext is a really great resource. They will submit you over a hundred places and they have a control that will keep all of your information consistent. You will pay a fee each month for each location you are utilizing Yext for.

Then there’s Moz Local. Moz Locals is a really great resource. Besides Moz Locals, you can use Whitesparks and Brightlocal.

Where and how should we create paid ads?

If your goal is just to get more visits to your website, no matter the reason for it, one of your best options is to do paid ads. You can do this in different places.

  • Paid ads on Youtube
  • Paid ads on social media networks
  • Google Ads, pay-per-click

These are a great way to get visits to your website. One of the great things about a pay-per-click ad is that usually the people who are clicking on those ads are the people who are already in the buyer mindset. They are there because they have already made the decision to purchase whether it’s a service or product. A tip that has been around for a long time, first talked about by Rand Fishkin is that the first 6-12 months of marketing you should spend solely working on the brand. You can do this on social media, but also a great way to create awareness and draw traffic is through email marketing!
